1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences, understand how you use the site, and improve your experience. Peoplesage uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) to operate and enhance the platform.
2. Where This Policy Applies
This policy covers every part of Peoplesage that runs in your browser:
- Our public website, including the product, pricing, and demo pages
- The Peoplesage app used by account owners, administrators, recruiters, and managers for recruitment and employee management
- Employee accounts, through which employees view their own records, clock in and out, request leave, and see their payslips and progress
- Career portals, job applications, Brain Tests and Brain Tasks, and AI interviews used by candidates
3. Types of Cookies We Use
We use the following categories of cookies:
Essential Cookies
Required for the platform to function. These keep you signed in, manage your session, and handle security tokens and CSRF protection, so that only you can see your account, and employees can see only their own records and payslips. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
Functional Cookies
Remember your preferences such as language selection, timezone, dashboard layout, and notification settings. Your timezone is used so that clock-ins, shifts, and leave are shown at the correct local time. These improve your user experience but are not strictly necessary.
Analytics Cookies
Help us understand how users interact with Peoplesage: which features are most used, page load times, and navigation patterns. We use this data to improve the platform. These cookies collect aggregated, anonymized data.
Performance Cookies
Monitor platform performance, error rates, and response times. These help our engineering team identify and resolve issues quickly.
4. Local and Session Storage
Alongside cookies, we store a small amount of information in your browser using local storage and session storage. For example, we use it to:
- Remember whether you accepted or rejected cookies, so the banner does not appear again
- Keep your language and display preferences
- Hold a per-window identifier during an assessment or AI interview, so that reloading the page does not look like a second session, while opening the interview in a second tab or window can be detected
Session storage is cleared when you close the tab. Local storage stays on your device until you clear it through your browser settings.
5. Assessments, AI Interviews and Attendance
Some features use your browser in ways that are not cookies, and we want to be clear about them:
- Camera, microphone, and screen sharing for AI interviews are requested through your browser's own permission prompt, not through cookies. They are used only during the interview, and you can withdraw permission at any time in your browser settings
- Integrity signals during Brain Tests and AI interviews, such as tab switches or leaving full screen, are recorded as part of the assessment itself and are described in our Privacy Policy
- Attendance is recorded only from the clock-in and clock-out entries that employees and managers make. We do not use cookies to track what employees do in their browser
6. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are placed by third-party services we integrate with, including:
- Analytics providers (for usage insights)
- Customer support tools (for chat and ticket management)
- Payment processors (for secure transaction handling)
- Authentication providers (for SSO and social login)
These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies. We recommend reviewing their policies for details on their data practices.
7. Cookie Duration
Cookies on Peoplesage fall into two categories based on duration:
- Session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser
- Persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period (typically 30 days to 1 year) or until manually deleted
8. Managing Cookies
When you first visit Peoplesage, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can also control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored on your device
- Delete all or specific cookies
- Block cookies from specific or all websites
- Set preferences for first-party vs. third-party cookies
Please note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from signing in, including to an employee account, and from completing an assessment or AI interview.
9. Do Not Track
Peoplesage respects Do Not Track (DNT) signals sent by your browser. When DNT is enabled, we limit non-essential tracking and analytics data collection.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal compliance. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
